About Tiffany

I have so much fun playing my viola. I attend a youth orchestra in Denver, and it is always such a great experience. My viola teacher is really amazing and helps me to have fun with my viola, as well as learning.

My brother is incredibly annoying, but you should hear him play the guitar and piano, he's amazing. My mom is a flutist and my dad plays the radio (ha ha). My mom and my brother and I play in a trio together, and we perform at Christmas time.

I love to run Cross-Country and Track, and last season, I got 2nd place at the highest race in North America (Leadville, Colorado) running against 120 other girls my age. Last weekend, I got 4th place at my first speech meet in the category of Interpretation of Poetry. I consistently have the 2nd highest GPA in my grade, and last month, I won the "Patriot's Pen" essay contest. The topic was, "Why I am an American Patriot".

I have so many things I would like to accomplish in my lifetime. Specifically, I want to run a marathon, climb Mt. Everest, attend BYU, get a Ph.D in aerospace engineering, be the first person on Mars, serve a mission, play the viola in a professional orchestra, have a family, have a ranch in the mountains of Colorado, and run the Iditarod. And... I'm soon to realize my lifelong dream of owning a horse!

Hobbies

I love to run, practice my viola, play basketball, read (my favorite authors include Johnathan Stroud who wrote the Bartimaues Trilogy, Brian Jacques who wrote the Redwall series, and J.R.R. Tolkien who wrote The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and J.K. Rowling), and compete in speech meets. I LOVE Calvin and Hobbes!

Question of the Month

Why do you feel studying a musical instrument is a good thing?

Studying viola gives me an enormous amount of pleasure in the fact that I know I am constantly improving and therefore gives me a great sense of accomplishment. I have found that my music teachers are the best teachers I could ever ask for.

Favorite Songs to Play

My favorite piece to play is "The Children of Sanchez" by Chuck Mangione. (I play in a youth orchestra in Denver, and we played this piece at our last concert.)

My favorite composer is Handel, who, of course, wrote "The Messiah".
